Inventory.   Knowing what you have is the key to controlling it and 
auditing
it.  It's not glamorous, but I've yet to work at a company that had an 
accurate
database of what they owned and how it was configured.

It's not a glamorous problem, but I think solving it is necessary to 
addressing
a host of other issues.

So if given the thought "Critical Problems of our Industry", what 
springs to mind?  What aspects of your job do you think "they" could do 
better, (where they is the vendors or open source ventures that tackle 
some of the problems)?  What things do you bang your head on the table 
about, or find yourself griping about yet again at the local coffee 
shop?
