Also, look into joining the Apple Developer Connection.  Even if you arent a
software engineer, you can just pay the annual subscription fee and you, and
your friends if you're nice, get a discount from the Apple Store.  Last I knew,
they were doing a quarterly software bundle mailed out to all ADC members which
included free MacOS upgrades which are normally $120 or so.
