Hi folks,

Another message of links for you.

First, I'd like to start gathering calendar announcements and sending them
out as well as organizing them for the monthly meetings. If you know of
sysadmin-related events, either send them to the list, or drop a note to

 		rnovak+blcal at gmail.com

and I'll aggregate them.

Matt Simmons, the "Standalone Sysadmin," has a public calendar of "Events
of Interest to System Administrators." This is a national (international?)
resource, so not everything applies to us in the Bay Area. However, it's a
good place to look for regional events, especially if you're travelling.

Steve Foskett, a storage guru among other things, has an "Enterprise IT
Infrastructure Events" calendar along a similar vein. This is more on
large commercial events, but some things may still be of interest.

There are iCal, Google Calendar, and HTML access to both calendars.

Some specific events of possible interest, especially if you have a travel
budget:

* Feb 25-27: SoCal Linux Expo (http://www.socallinuxexpo.org/scale9x/)

February 25-27 in Los Angeles. Long running event, lots of sponsors, lots
of co-hosted events, convenient to LAX. Lots of details on the website.

* March 11-12: Cascadia IT Conference (http://www.casitconf.org/)

March 11-12 in Seattle. LOPSA and Seattle Area System Administrators Guild
are organizing this new conference. Early registration discounts available
till mid-February, and full day registration includes a year of LOPSA
membership (new or extension).

* April 29-30: PICC (http://www.picconf.org/)

April 29-30 in New Brunswick, NJ. LOPSA-NJ runs this conference now in its
second year. Details are due in February, with early registration by March
15. Great item to combine with your next visit to your east coast
datacenter?

* June 12-17: USENIX Federated Conferences Week, Portland OR
* December 4-9: LISA '11, Boston MA

The USENIX events are available at http://www.usenix.org/events/

If you know of any events, feel free to let me know at rnovak+blcal at gmail
and share them with the Standalone Sysadmin as well to spread the word
even further.

Thanks,
Rob
