Message-ID: <20100421180211.GF14170@bunrab.catwhisker.org> I'm seeing some trtaffic in sage-members about AMANDA (the backup scheduler originalyy from UMaryland, IIRC) that indicates that in the last few years, AMANDA has been receiving a fair amount of love, attention, new code, and features. Now, I haven't been a practicing sysadmin for the last couple of years (and no, I'm not in management -- perish the thought!). But it occurred to me that if someone might be persuaded to talk about (some of) those changes, perhaps that might be of interest to the BayLISA community. A suitably-motivated volunteer should probably respond to blw at . Thoughts? Peace, david -- David H. That's a great suggestion, David--thanks! I looked at AMANDA once upon a time, but it lacked key library support then, so I had to bail on it. Since then, I know there was a company called Zmanda that strove to improve the code & capabilities, but I lost track of how far things got. I'll definitely look into having someone from either (or both!) project out for a talk. -Guy From cratz at hematite.com Fri Apr 30 16:23:41 2010 From: cratz at hematite.com (Tony Cratz) Date: Fri, 30 Apr 2010 16:23:41 -0700 Subject: Anyone keeping up with AMANDA lately? Some years ago (2002-2003) I looked at Amanda. It did not have some of the features I was looking for so I kept looking and found Bacula. At the time Bacula was the only true client/server backup/restore system. Since then any time I needed to use a backup/restore system I have looked at Bacula ( http://bacula.org/en/ ).
