This month, the speaker will be Robert Harker, who will discuss using Subversion as a system administration aide (and the challenges thereof): When: Thursday 2009 Nov 19 @ 19:30 Where: 2029 Stierlin Ct., Mountain View, CA 94043 Who: Robert Harker What: Subversion for the Systems Administrator (stupid pet tricks with subversion) Visit for more details. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This year, we have *five* board positions to fill. Current BayLISA members are entitled to vote for their choice of candidates at the meeting (details of the process will be given either via email prior to the meeting, or at the meeting itself). If you're interested in volunteering to help run our organization, please send a brief statement of candidacy to , if possible. Note that elected board members have their dues waived (so yes--you can run for a spot even if you're not currently a member :^) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- One final note--because of the extra time required for the elections, we'll be having pizza at the meeting this month so folks don't have to worry about eating before they arrive. Please RSVP to so we can get a rough head count & know how much to order. Thanks & hope to see many of you there! -Guy From guy at extragalactic.net Wed Nov 18 00:51:04 2009 From: guy at extragalactic.net (Guy B. I got my degree in astrophysics & "played with computers" as a hobby; now, I've been a sysadmin in the Bay Area for over ten years & hardly remember much astronomy (at least not without trying hard :^) I'm interested in helping to guide the organization through the impending server swap & website cleanup, and through the process of figuring out how our group should "fit" in the community of Bay Area tech groups & start kicking the can down that path. Thanks for reading :^) -Guy From rick at linuxmafia.com Wed Nov 18 01:41:38 2009 From: rick at linuxmafia.com (Rick Moen) Date: Wed, 18 Nov 2009 01:41:38 -0800 Subject: November BayLISA meeting In-Reply-To: <5B8CAE82-A44C-4D83-8CD9-ADC3BA8DDBE4@extragalactic.net> References: <5B8CAE82-A44C-4D83-8CD9-ADC3BA8DDBE4@extragalactic.net> Message-ID: <20091118094138.GG6625@linuxmafia.com> Quoting Guy B. Note that elected board members have their dues waived > (so yes--you can run for a spot even if you're not currently a member :^) I've served both as Board member and as Treasurer for quite a few terms, and in the latter capacity been keeping track of BayLISA's finances and expenses for the Board, plus keeping track of our membership records and state corporate filings. I'd be glad to keep going for another 2-year term if the members wish. I'm a longtime sysadmin, active member with a couple of dozen techanical groups in the Bay Area, and maintainer of the BALE calendar of technical events (http://linuxamafia.com/bale/). (I've always voluntarily paid for my own BayLISA membership to support the group, even though as a Board member I don't have to. I'd plan on continuing to do so.) -- Rick Moen "If accuracy / Is what you crave / rick at linuxmafia.com Then you should call it / Myanmar Shave." -- FakeAPStylebook From rick at linuxmafia.com Wed Nov 18 02:24:23 2009 From: rick at linuxmafia.com (Rick Moen) Date: Wed, 18 Nov 2009 02:24:23 -0800 Subject: November BayLISA meeting In-Reply-To: <20091118094138.GG6625@linuxmafia.com> References: <5B8CAE82-A44C-4D83-8CD9-ADC3BA8DDBE4@extragalactic.net> <20091118094138.GG6625@linuxmafia.com> Message-ID: <20091118102423.GH6625@linuxmafia.com> I wrote: > I'm a longtime sysadmin, active member with a couple of dozen > techanical groups in the Bay Area, and maintainer of the BALE calendar > of technical events (http://linuxamafia.com/bale/).
