what part of "tape device emulation" are you looking for ??

"disks" can do some of the work but:

- tar can talk to tapes or disks for debugging some of the "tape sw"
- disks can do raid1 

- eject and mt won't work on disks :-)

- /dev/st* /dev/nst* is a different set of problems
