Oh, and it's a DE-9[PS], not DB-9.  The "B" or "E" (or A, C, D) is the 
shell size.  Go look at a Cannon/ITT catalog under "D subminiature 
connector".  A DB-9 would have a lot of empty space.  DA-15, DB-25, DC-37, 
DD-50, DE-9, plus some other pin configurations in various shell sizes like 
the B-sized 13W3.  P for Plug, i.e. male pins, S for Socket, female pins.

On this one, nobody even has the lame excuse that the standard (EIA RS-232) 
costs money to buy.  Cannon gives out catalogs for free.

But don't get me started. :-)
