Responsibilities include managing racks of servers running CentOS 5 and 6. These systems are used by developers to build and test code as well as to run production Internet servers. A qualified candidate will be able to design and implement a hardware spec based on a client's requirements. Managing existing SAN and network infrastructure well is a must. The ideal candidate will be able to manage his or her time with minimum guidance and maintain service uptime at 99% or better. Desired qualifications: A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related discipline, with 3-4 years of relevant work experience 3-4 years CentOS/RHEL Linux or legacy UNIX experience in an enterprise environment Proven expertise performing root cause analysis of system failures and application bottlenecks Ability to conduct and manage key deployments of new services for client organizations Knowledge of programming languages and operating systems Knowledge of current equipment and technologies in use (Intel/AMD based rack mountable servers) At least 2 years' experience with a minimum of 4 of the following technologies: * Configuration management and deployment systems (Chef, puppet, etc) * Fibre Channel SAN, zoning * Cisco, Fortinet, Juniper, or other enterprise firewalls * Nagios, Zabbix, or other monitoring system * High availability systems * VMware ESXi 4.x or 5.x, vCenter, and Xen * Tape libraries (e.g. HP MSL4048) * Site-to-site IPSec VPNs in a heterogeneous environment LDAP implementation and/or management experience using e.g. OpenLDAP or 389-ds (NOT Active Directory) Good understanding of RAID systems and levels, both in hardware and software Data center power management: switched rack PDUs, large double-conversion UPS systems, etc A comprehensive understanding of IPv4 network technology. IPv6 is a bonus. An understanding of Linux package management: how to deploy and build packages, package repositories, etc 2-3 years experience writing BASH scripts Basic knowledge of at least one more advanced scripting language (PHP, Perl, Python, etc) 1 year experience with Amazon Web Services: S3, EC2, IAM, etc. A "whatever-it-takes-to-solve-the-problem" attitude Bonus experience: Solaris, MacOS, or *BSD administration experience Windows Server 2008 or 2010 system administration experience Recent C, C++, or Java development experience Enterprise backup and recovery systems Location: Sunnyvale, CA If interested please call or send your resume.
